Dear Colleagues,

We would like to cordially invite you to the 16th international symposium on "Signalling in the Blood-Brain Barriers" which will be held in Sümeg, Hungary on September 12th-14th2013.

In the vicinity of the medieval castle of Sümeg, scientists will gather from all over the world to discuss the latest developments in the field of blood-brain barriers research. Previous meetings were held with great success in Potsdam, Salzburg, Amsterdam, London, Zürich, Istanbul. It is not the first time - that at least for a few days - Hungary will be in the focus of the BBB research community. After a successful BBB meeting organized by the late Prof. Ferenc Joó in 1993 in Szeged, we were proud to host the 6th Symposium in 2003 and now it is our honour to organize the 2013 meeting as well.

We envisage a programme that will encompass all areas of BBB research including BBB homeostasis, cellular interactions at the neurovascular unit, regulation of microvascular permeability, structure and function of intercellular junctions, pathologies of the BBBs, drug transporters at the BBB and drug delivery to the CNS, cell migration across the BBB and also the very latest on BBB models. Studies on basic sciences, experimental and clinical works, and technical aspects of BBB investigations are all welcome.

It is our pleasure to invite you all to this Symposium. With your valuable contribution we aim to organize a scientifically and socially memorable meeting in a renowned wellness hotel.

We look forward to welcoming you to BBB2013 in Sümeg, Hungary.

Mária Deli and István Krizbai
