Todays multi resistant bacteria are more dangerous than child bed fever back at Semmelweis’ time. The Semmelweis Foundation wants to contribute to reduce antimicrobial resistances and increase the hygiene level in health care institutions in order to save lives by increasing the public awareness and creating political pressure through information and initiatives on different levels.

Sharing best practice examples and learning from each other are the most important elements in the course of our activities. We want to encourage patients, health care professionals and political decision makers to address neglected health care problems and not allow the Semmelweis reflex to happen again.
